What on earth is at the start of my kids TV shows?
“Wow Wow Wubbzy encourages toddlers to share and care by nurturing emotional development”
Say what? Does anyone actually fall for this and believe they’re doing their child some good by letting them watch a cartoon?
I think these cartoons should just be honest.
“Wow Wow Wubbzy will get your toddler to sit there like a mindless drone for a half hour. We’ll seamlessly merge into the next cartoon show without you or him knowing, so he could be sitting there for a couple hours. Sure, you’ll pay for it later when he comes out of his TV-enhanced fog like a crazy man, running around, making messes, picking on his siblings and whines and cries at everything. But the “Future You” will have to deal with all that. The “Now You” will get 2 hours of peace and quiet to do as you please. And doesn’t the “Now You” really need that?”
At least that would be the truth.

ohmy TELL me about it!!! we don't have cable so i don't know what wowow wubbzy is but we have however found youtube and hulu.com. I like to stick with youtube when we need a few minutes: baby einstein or signing times and it's nice the clips are only 2-9 minutes long so I can keep a handle on the length of the tv time. But the hubby LOVES Pink Panther and the Flinstones on Hulu.com so when he's in charge I can find them both on the sofa vegging out on some cartoons =) And I always said my baby was NEVER going to watch TV...things change I suppose!
ReplyDeleteLOL. That pic of your son is priceless.
ReplyDeleteStopping by from SITS.
This is so true, the now you really does need that! I remember when Neesha was young she was very active at 2 like climbing onto countertops etc. You Know! So the only time I could get things done or read or what ever was put a movie on for her or a kids tv show. I do not know what I would have done without it sorry to say.
ReplyDeleteIf I'd let him, my son would watch Nick Jr. all day long...it's ridiculous! However, I do agree that it is kind of a nice "babysitter" when I need to get something done or take care of the twins.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog!
holy smokes, you read my mind! I can't believe they lie to us like that to make us feel better about ourselves!!! Oh well, it works!
